Always get at least 3 quotes
Three quotes gives you a market range. If one is dramatically lower, be suspicious. If one is dramatically higher, ask why — they may be including something others are not.

A proper quote should break down:

Materials (with specifications)
Labour (hours or day rates)
Subcontractor costs (electrics, plumbing)

Contingency allowance
Watch for exclusions
The cheapest quote often excludes essentials. Common exclusions that inflate the final bill:

Assess the contractor, not just the price
A slightly higher quote from an excellent contractor often delivers better value than the cheapest option. Consider their reviews, communication quality, portfolio, and your gut feeling during meetings.
